PORTFOLIO

By the year 2000 we expect the appearance of CAD workstations to have changed dramatically. We see them being approximately the same size and shape as today’s drafting tables. Like TABLET, these advanced workstations will be very thin (approximately one to two inches) and constructed of the same sturdy materials as TABLET. We expect to see one that clips into standard office furniture systems with the screen making the horizontal work surface.

PORTFOLIO

PORTFOLIO will have much more computing power and memory than TABLET because it will be required to perform more computationally demanding tasks. Each of these workstations will be capable of running upwards of a dozen computer programs simultaneously. The computer’s display screen will look more like a cluttered desk than a computer screen with many windows open and running simultaneously.

PORTFOLIO

Sophisticated communications linkages built in to PORTFOLIO will make “talking” to other people or workstations very simple. Simultaneous voice and data transmission will enable several people to successfully work on the same drawing simultaneously from different locations. These CAD workstations will use conventional energy sources (i.e. a wall plug) with battery technology and electrical storage requirements much the same as for TABLET. As a standard feature, PORTFOLIO will be able to recognize and respond to spoken commands. It will also come equipped with a cordless keyboard.
